Title: xinetd Version: 2.1.8.3 Submitted: Oct 4 1998 Author: Rob Braun (bbraun@synack.net) Submittor: Rob Braun (bbraun@isc.org) Description: An extention on xinetd. xinetd was originally written by panos@cs.colorado.edu. What this has over the previous release of xinetd: 1) Ability to bind services to a specific interface. Useful to have a different service running on the same port numbers on different interfaces. Also, make insecure protocols available only on "trusted" interfaces. 2) Ability to redirect incoming tcp connections to a remote machine with (possibly) a different port number. Kind of like a reverse proxy. The extra version number is because the COPYRIGHT file of the original xinted specifically lays out rules for version numbers. FAQ: http://synack.net/xinetd/faq.html
